About Me
"We meet ourselves time and again in a thousand disguises on the path of life." C. G. Jung

The above quote from Jung appeals to me because of its implications in our efforts to discover the conscious and the unconscious part of ourselves. The quotation also alludes to the fluidity of our identity and the discovery associated with our individual selves in the journey through life.
I work full-time as a Student Advisor for internationally-trained individuals at Centennial College, and also teach part-time English and life skills courses as opportunities arise. Currently, I'm on a professional development leave from work, which would help me to complete U.O.I.T.'s M. Ed. program by the end of April 2014. My sincere gratitude and thanks to the members of the Professional Development Committee at Centennial College for their interest and generosity.
My undergraduate study was in Environmental Studies at the University of Waterloo. Since my graduation many years ago, I've had a variety of work experiences in both corporate and public education sectors. My quest for lifelong learning led me to U.O.I.T.'s M. Ed. program about two years ago. This portfolio seems to indicate that I'm nearing the end of this part of my learning journey. In the process of putting this portfolio together, I was able to review some of the learning that took place during my studies, as well as connecting and weaving the learning together to help solidify some of the ideas and common themes. Also, by reflecting on my learning, I was able to get a better sense of the direction for my continuous learning.
It's been a challenging learning experience balancing many aspects of my life as an adult learner such as work, family and personal needs. I'm a mother of two teenagers. I enjoy outdoor activities such as back-packing, camping, gardening, fishing, hiking, skiing, and reading.
I enjoyed learning at U.O.I.T. immensely during the last two years. Being a full-time student during the last two semesters provided me with more flexibility, and enabled me to achieve some deep learning in some of the areas of my interest. I am very grateful to the professors who encouraged me with kindness and scaffolding advise along the way.
